The Screen Education Fund from Screen Scotland is now open, supporting projects that make screen education more accessible, inclusive and sustainable across Scotland.

The fund is designed to support innovative approaches to screen-based learning in both formal and informal settings, with a focus on long-term impact and strengthening the wider sector.

Projects should align with the fund’s key priorities, including:

  • Supporting the development and growth of screen education across Scotland
  • Building long-term sustainability through increased capacity and understanding
  • Promoting the value and benefits of screen education for learners of all ages

Funding is available for projects delivered in a range of settings, including schools, colleges, youth and community groups, and other non-traditional learning environments where screen education can thrive.

Grants of £1,000 to £25,000 are available to support project delivery. Eligible costs may include:

  • Programme planning and delivery
  • Staffing and specialist practitioners
  • Training and safeguarding
  • Venue hire and access costs

All funded activity must be completed within 12 months.

The fund is revenue-based, meaning it is intended to support delivery rather than equipment purchase. It will not support:

  • Hiring or purchasing filmmaking equipment
  • Industry expert speakers
  • Promotional merchandise
  • Film licensing costs

Applications are open to individuals, organisations and constituted groups based in Scotland. A lead applicant must submit the proposal, with letters of commitment required from any project partners.

There is no fixed deadline, with applications accepted on a rolling basis, allowing applicants to develop proposals in line with local needs and partnership opportunities.

This fund offers a valuable opportunity for educators, creative practitioners and community organisations to deliver meaningful screen-based learning and help develop Scotland’s next generation of storytellers and digital creators.
