The SURF Awards 2026 are now open for applications, marking 28 years of celebrating outstanding achievements in community regeneration across Scotland.

Organised by SURF (Scotland’s Regeneration Forum), the awards shine a spotlight on best practice examples of collaborative, community‑led regeneration projects, recognising the positive impact they have on local areas and the people who live there.

Celebrating Community Regeneration

Over nearly three decades, the SURF Awards have become a key feature in Scotland’s regeneration calendar, highlighting innovative approaches and successful partnerships that help create stronger, more resilient communities.

Projects of all sizes and stages are encouraged to apply, showcasing the diversity and creativity of regeneration work happening across the country.

Key Dates for 2026

Organisations interested in applying should take note of the following timeline:

  • 4 June 2026 – Applications open
  • 7 September 2026 (5:00pm) – Application deadline
    • Completed applications should be submitted by email to: emma@surf.scot
  • Late September – Late October 2026 – Assessment process
    • Shortlisting and site visits carried out by a panel of 20 independent judges
    • In‑person visits will take place between 22 September and 22 October, with exact dates arranged directly with shortlisted projects
  • 10 December 2026 – Winners announced
    • Results will be revealed at a celebratory Presentation Dinner at the Voco Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow

Being shortlisted—or winning—a SURF Award offers valuable recognition for projects and partnerships, helping to raise their profile, share learning across the sector, and inspire others.

The programme continues to highlight how effective regeneration can be achieved through collaboration between communities, public bodies, and third sector organisations.
