A new resource, The Entrepreneur’s Guide to Social Investment, has been launched to provide a clear and practical introduction to social investment, bringing key information together in one accessible place.
Developed by Firstport in partnership with Social Investment Scotland, Good Finance and The Ventures Lab, the guide brings together a range of expertise to support social entrepreneurs in making informed decisions. It aims to simplify what can often feel like a complex landscape, helping organisations better understand whether social investment is right for them.
The guide covers a range of key topics, including:
- an introduction to the language of social investment, helping to explain common terms and concepts
- how social investment works in practice
- understanding and developing investment readiness
- the differences between grants and loans
- an overview of revenue-based finance as an alternative funding option
Designed for organisations at different stages of their journey, the guide encourages a more informed and confident approach to exploring funding options, with a focus on aligning decisions with mission, capacity and long-term sustainability.
