We’re sharing an exciting time-limited opportunity for third sector organisations in West Lothian to get involved in a new education pilot supporting the next generation of skilled tradespeople.

META-PRENEUR: Think Differently is an enterprise education pilot running across Edinburgh College, Forth Valley College and West Lothian College, helping students develop the mindset and skills employers are looking for.

In West Lothian, students studying Automotive, Electrical Installation and ESOL are taking part, using the Meta-Skills 4.0 framework to build skills in areas like communication, collaboration, creativity and problem-solving.

How your organisation can get involved

There are two simple ways to take part:

1. Share your story
Join a session (in person or online) and talk to students about:

  • The need or issue your organisation identified
  • What motivated you to take action
  • What you’ve learned along the way
  • Advice for young people starting out

2. Bring a real challenge
Ask students to help tackle a real issue your organisation is facing, such as:

  • Recruiting or retaining volunteers
  • Improving your social media or online presence
  • Strengthening community engagement
  • Developing a new project or idea

Students bring fresh perspectives and new thinking that could genuinely support your work.

Why get involved?

This is a low-commitment, high-impact opportunity, offering:

  • Fresh ideas on real challenges
  • Insight from young people
  • Positive visibility for your organisation
  • A chance to shape future talent
  • Potential longer-term connections with students

Get involved (urgent)

This is a short turnaround opportunity, so if you’re interested in taking part in either (or both) options, please get in touch as soon as possible:
