Youth groups working in rural communities can now apply for grants of up to £2,000 through the Youth Scotland Rural Activate Fund to help increase opportunities for young people to take part in sport and physical activity.

Supported by sportscotland’s Summer of Sport 2026, the fund will enable organisations to deliver activities for young people aged 5 to 25 from late summer 2026 through to 31 March 2027.

Funding can be used to create safe, inclusive and enjoyable opportunities for young people to become more active while strengthening links with local sports clubs, Community Sports Hubs and other activity providers.

Eligible costs may include:

  • Taster sessions and introductory activities.
  • Holiday programmes and regular weekly sessions.
  • Sports equipment and kit.
  • Travel costs to support participation.
  • Additional sessional or specialist staff to deliver activities.

As part of the programme, successful organisations will also receive support from Youth Scotland to identify local opportunities, connect with Community Sports Hub Officers and help young people progress into ongoing sporting activities within their communities.

The deadline for applications is Monday 3 August 2026.

Please note that applicants must have an active Youth Scotland membership to be eligible for this funding.
