Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian is pleased to offer this YGAM Social Care training session, designed to help build confidence in supporting young people around gaming and gambling harms.
Delivered by Ygam, an award-winning charity dedicated to helping young people lead safe digital lives, this interactive workshop will explore the digital environments young people navigate and how these can impact their wellbeing.
Participants will gain practical knowledge and tools to better understand and support young people in a rapidly evolving digital world.
What will the session cover?
- How young people engage with gaming and gambling
- The influence of social media, advertising and gaming mechanics
- Impacts on mental health and wellbeing
- The blurred lines between gaming and gambling
- In-game purchases, microtransactions and virtual currencies
- How to recognise signs of harm
- Having effective, supportive conversations
- Signposting to appropriate support
Who should attend?
This session is suitable for anyone working with or supporting children and young people, including staff, volunteers and practitioners across the third sector.
