Eastfield Development Centre is open for business after refurbishment
Fauldhouse and Breich Valley Community Development Trust are absolutely delighted that local builders, JG Joiners and Builders have now completed the first phase of the redevelopment of Eastfield Development Centre (EDC). The building has been signed off and is ready to go! We are really excited about the potential.
Thanks to funding from West Lothian Council Place Based Investment Programme (PBIP) 2023-24 and the Levenseat Trust, the building now has a new much larger kitchen with serving hatches to both the hall and a new improved foyer area where you can sit have a chat and a coffee or tea.
The building also has a new office and an accessible toilet. A sliding partition wall has been installed to enable the hall to be split in two, with separate access to both areas, creating a more usable and flexible space for groups and activities. This has allowed the previous office to house the new Eastfield Community Shop (contact F&BV CDT for details of the new shop and membership).
Eastfield Development Centre has been a work in progress for the Fauldhouse and Breich Valley Community Development Trust (F&BV CDT) since 2012 after several local groups and people approached the Trust about bringing this well-loved building back into use after it had fallen into disrepair since its closure.
Eastfield Development Centre was then leased by F&BV CDT from West Lothian Council from May 2017. The Trust managed to have some repairs and improvements done to the building over the years. EDC was finally Community Asset Transferred from West Lothian Council in 2022 to allow this building to continue providing projects and activities to benefit local people.
As your local charity, F&BV CDT rely on local fundraising and grant funding to deliver our projects. All the money generated at EDC is invested back into the building and to help run the activities based there.
