Better Breaks is offering £1.2M in funding for short breaks projects aimed at disabled children and young people (aged 20 and under) and their carers. Applications are open now.
Better Breaks offers 12-month grants to third sector organisations to develop and deliver short breaks projects and services for disabled children, young people, and their carers, which may include both adult and young carers.
Funding is available for a broad range of short breaks projects and services, including activities and breaks for:
- Disabled children and young people without their carers
- Families to enjoy together
- Young/sibling carers with the individuals they care for
Short breaks can consist of overnight stays and residential breaks, days out, or shorter sessions such as regular activities. Eligible projects must demonstrate how their activities will provide a beneficial break from the normal routine for both disabled children, young people, and their carers.
Approximately £1.2 million in total funding is available, with grants provided for one year (April 2025 – March 2026). Full details can be found here.
Who can apply? This funding is open to third sector organisations operating in Scotland. Organisations do not need to be registered charities but must have a constitution stating their purposes are solely charitable and aimed at delivering public benefit.
