The University of St Andrews are looking for participants (age over 60) to take part in a PhD (doctoral-level) research project at the University of St. Andrews.

What is this research about?

Many older people continue to suffer direct and indirect consequences of the covid-19 pandemic, whilst other older people have coped remarkably well. We aim to understand the factors responsible for these different outcomes through this research project.

What is involved?

During the study, we speak to participants age 60+ over the phone about their wellbeing, using established questionnaires. The deadline for participating is 30th April, 2023.

Are there any benefits to taking part?

Every participant who takes part in the study is entered into our prize draw to win one of four £50 Vouchers (choice of Amazon or Marks and Spencer Voucher). In addition, people often report a sense of empowerment and purpose through taking part in scientific research.

Why is this research important?

This particular piece of research is important as it furthers our understanding of how the pandemic has impacted people over the age of 60. This understanding can be used to improve health outcomes for people over age 60 and improve health and social care provided by the government, the NHS and public sector.

What information do you provide?

We provide full details about the study including an information sheet which can be sent via post or email. After reading the information sheet, prospective participants can either choose to continue onto the study or not. Participants are also free to leave the study at any time.
