Saltire Awards

Share

There are four types of Saltire Awards designed to celebrate the volunteering journey of young people. The Saltire Awards, supported by the Scottish Government, recognise and reward the dedication, contributions, and achievements of young volunteers in Scotland, aged 12 to 25.

Young people earn nationally recognised certificates, signed by Scottish Government Ministers, for different levels of volunteering.

Volunteering benefits not only our local communities but also the young volunteers themselves. They gain valuable skills and experiences that enhance their CVs and aid their school or work life. Volunteering also offers opportunities to meet new people, make friends, and boost wellbeing.

Volunteering supports young people’s personal and professional growth, making a positive impact on individuals, communities, and the environment.

Saltire Awards Ambassadors

This programme, created by young people for young people, allows volunteers who have earned the ‘Ascent’ level to apply to become Saltire Ambassadors.

Ambassadors play a key role in the Saltire Awards, participating in everything from promotional and publicity activities to decision-making on the Summit Award panel, as well as serving on advisory groups and committees. They receive full training and support, offering them a chance to enhance their skills and build their confidence.
