This workshop brings together the Whitburn community, professionals and decision makers to develop a common understanding of type 2 diabetes. There are many factors that contribute to the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, some that we cannot influence such as genetic and inherited factors and some that we may have a bit more control over, like body weight and activity levels. Having a higher body weight and body mass index (BMI) can increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. We know that other factors ranging from breastfeeding to deprivation are also closely linked to the risk of both obesity and type 2 diabetes.

The TSI Children’s Services Network, which VSGWL is part of, is delighted to present this event to you. Making Children’s Rights Real Across Scotland In support to the Year of Childhood, and to continue our commitment to children’s rights, this event will give an update on the UNCRC Incorporation. It will also bring people together to share experiences, tools and practice in relation to children and young people participation work.

The Volunteer Friendly Award has been redeveloped in 2021 by Volunteer Scotland and TSI Scotland Network. The new standard reflects current volunteer good practice and trends. The new process and offer allow for more volunteer programmes to engage with this award, to develop and be recognised for the work they do.
