Family Fund are running their free annual online Discover Digital summer festival once more. Starting Tuesday 30 July 2024, registrations are now open.
Tailored to disabled and seriously ill children and young people and their families, the festival offers friendly online sessions where you can learn new skills and socialise during the summer holidays, from the comfort of your home. Their workshops are free and range from exploring how to create fun animations, to making a vlog and mastering the power of coding.
This year, all children can access all sessions, no matter their age, abilities, and experiences. The Family Fund have ensured that three of the festival workshops are multiplatform, so children can join the session from the device most suited to them (Android tablet, iPad or PC). Families can book onto as many sessions as they like, with all sessions held on Zoom.
Each session will be one hour long, with a qualified trainer leading it, and a Family Fund staff member to support.
To attend the sessions, you will need: an internet connection, a device to make your creation on, a second device to view the workshop on, and the apps that you’ll use in the workshops you are attending:
- Animation Artists: download Keynote app for Apple devices
- Badge Buddies: access Canva website on all devices
- Creative Coders: access Micro:Bit website on all devices
- Remix Rockstars: download Garageband app for Apple devices
- Storytelling Sketchers: download Sketchbook app on Google play or in the App Store
- Visionary Vloggers: download Clips app for Apple devices
