Women, children and young people who have experienced violence and abuse are at a higher risk of physical and mental health problems, drug and alcohol problems, barriers to educational achievement and reduced employment opportunities.  This can lead to increased risk of homelessness, financial exploitation and exclusion and them feeling trapped in an abusive situation.

This session will be delivered by the Anti-Poverty Service and will cover:

  • A lived experience account of living with and recovering from gender based violence and abuse
  • The prevalence of poverty for people who experience gender based violence and abuse
  • The impact of poverty and financial exclusion on vulnerable people
  • An overview of Poverty Sensitive language
  • Information on advice and support available locally to help individuals become more financially resilient

Who should attend:  Anyone working with individuals or families who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing poverty or financial exclusion.
