Health in Mind’s Peer Support Service is dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of adults aged 18+ from ethnic minority backgrounds. We are currently looking for Peer Support Volunteers who can make a difference by providing one-on-one support to individuals facing mental health challenges.

As a Peer Support Volunteer, you will work with someone for up to six months, offering 1-2 hours of your time each week. During these sessions, you will help them understand their feelings and explore ways to make positive changes in their lives.

Who We’re Looking For:
This is a peer volunteer role. We are seeking volunteers who:

  • Identify as having lived experience with mental health challenges
  • Are from a minority ethnic background
  • Have an awareness of their own recovery journey

Skills and Qualities Required:

  • Understanding of positive mental health and how to maintain it
  • Strong self-awareness and knowledge of self-care
  • Friendly, non-judgmental attitude
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Common sense and initiative
  • Awareness of the importance of boundaries and confidentiality
  • Ability to follow organisational guidelines
