Organisational Overview:

Linlithgow Community Development Trust is a community organisation who aim to make Linlithgow a better place to live and work. We currently run several ‘Share and Repair’ activities, including a tool sharing library and a Repair Shop – encouraging our community to reuse, repair and recycle to reduce waste (known as the circular economy). These are run by local volunteers and overseen by a project worker. By providing our community with more environmentally sustainable options for accessing and mending items, we offer them the opportunity to reduce waste and save money.

The Trust also runs several other projects in areas including active travel, renewable energy and grow your own. There are a total of seven members of staff and approximately 50 volunteers. Based in the EH49 Hub in the historic town of Linlithgow, the Trust enjoys strong working links with other local community organisations.

Job Purpose:

Embedded within Linlithgow Community Development Trust (LCDT), you will explore ways in which the Trust’s existing Share and Repair projects can be extended to appeal to and serve local tourism businesses, helping them to engage in Scotland’s developing Circular Economy. The project will include a trial involving a limited number of participating businesses as well as a wider consultation to establish the feasibility of extending the project beyond the funded trial period.

You will work with the Circular Economy Projects Manager to ensure successful delivery of the year-long project. You will thrive on being organised and have a high level of attention to detail. You will need to be able to build relationship with local businesses and work alongside key stakeholders as well as being the first point of contact for external project enquiries and ensure actions are taken to respond in a timely and professional manner. There may be some evening and weekend work.
